Step 1: It All Starts with Design

Every Caratina ring begins with a dream. Our in-house designers work closely with clients (and their Pinterest boards!) to translate ideas into stunning, wearable art. Once we land on the perfect concept, we create a 3D design using advanced CAD (computer-aided design) technology, which allows you to visualize your ring from every angle before we bring it to life.

Step 2: Wax Modeling

Next, we move from pixels to physical form. A wax model of your ring is created—either by hand carving or 3D printing—based on the CAD design. This model helps us prep for the casting process and ensures every detail is just right.

Step 3: Casting the Metal

Here’s where the magic happens. The wax model is encased in a special material to form a mold. We then melt away the wax and pour in molten precious metal—such as gold, platinum, or our premium alloys. Once it cools and hardens, we break the mold open to reveal a raw version of your ring.

Step 4: Polishing & Refining

At Caratina, we believe the beauty is in the details. After casting, your ring is carefully polished by our skilled artisans to bring out its natural shine. If it’s a white gold piece, we also apply rhodium plating for that bright, mirror-like finish. This step ensures your ring not only looks beautiful—but feels beautiful to wear, too.

Step 5: Setting the Stones

This is where your ring truly comes to life. Our expert setters place each gemstone—whether it’s a sparkling moissanite or a lab-created diamond—into its setting with precision and care. We use techniques like prong, bezel, or pavé setting to both protect and showcase the stones.

Step 6: Final Quality Check

Before any Caratina piece leaves our workshop, it goes through a thorough quality inspection. We check for stone security, metal finish, structural integrity, and overall craftsmanship. Only when it meets our highest standards do we wrap it up and send it on its way—to you.
