Jason & Kristi

We’d been out for the afternoon, and he told me we were stopping somewhere “just for a quick walk.” I didn’t think much of it until we turned a corner and I saw the gazebo — white columns, rose petals scattered in a perfect circle, sunlight filtering through the trees.
Before I could even ask what was going on, he took my hand, smiled in that way he does when he’s nervous, and got down on one knee. I think I covered my mouth out of pure shock.
He didn’t give a long speech — just a few words that I’ll remember forever. And then he opened the box, and the ring caught the light in a way that made everything else blur out.
I said yes, of course. We stood there for a while afterward, just holding onto each other, the petals at our feet and the world feeling very, very still.
It wasn’t about the setting (though it was beautiful). It was about the way he looked at me in that moment — like there was no one else in the world.
