Minseo & Minjee

It was early morning when he suggested we take a hot air balloon ride. I thought it sounded fun — something different, a view I’d remember forever.
We floated higher and higher, the ground slowly pulling away, the air turning cooler. I was busy pointing out the hills and the other balloon in the distance when he shifted a little, reached for my hand, and smiled in that way that makes my heart race.
Before I could ask what he was doing, he pulled out the ring. Halfway to the clouds, he asked me to marry him.
I said yes, of course. The ring is everything I didn’t even know to hope for — simple, classic, and it caught the sunlight in a way that made the whole basket glow.
Now, whenever I see a hot air balloon drifting in the sky, I think about that morning, the quiet up there, and how the world felt impossibly big and small at the same time.
